About The Position

Performs moderately heavy manual work caring for and maintaining campus grounds, including plants, shrubs, lawns, and sprinkler systems. Maintains sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other grounds features. This is an essential personnel position requiring availability for all on-call duty for emergency maintenance or campus preparation during inclement or hazardous weather conditions.

Requirements

• No previous experience or education is required.
• Must be available for all on-call duty for emergency maintenance or campus preparation due to inclement or hazardous weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Care for and maintain plants, shrubs, lawns, and sprinkler systems.
• Maintain sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other grounds features.
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, and axes.
• Plant trees, shrubs, ground cover, and annual flowers using proper horticultural techniques.
• Assist with installing and maintaining signs, barricades, fences, and irrigation systems, including digging lines and replacing heads and valves.
• Mow, edge, and trim turf areas.
• Collect debris daily and weed planting beds.
• Water trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf areas; spread sand; and remove snow and ice from walkways.
• Be available for all on-call duty for emergency maintenance or campus preparation during inclement or hazardous weather conditions.
