About The Position

The Groundskeeper Group I is responsible for maintaining the physical appearance of University grounds through various tasks such as mowing, raking, planting, fertilizing, trimming, and watering. This role involves the use of hand and power tools typically used in gardening and grounds maintenance. Requirements

  • Knowledge of maintenance and operation of grounds equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma.
  • Working knowledge of lawn maintenance, and of lawn maintenance equipment use and repair.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Responsibilities

  • Mows, trims, edges, and sweeps university lawns and grounds.
  • Waters fields and grounds as directed.
  • Performs tree and shrub maintenance, including planting, trimming, and fertilizing.
  • Ensures proper care of equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Collects trash and removes it in appropriate containers.
  • Performs minor repair of equipment.
  • Assists with set-up and tear-down of outdoor stages, tarps, tables, and chairs.
  • Identifies maintenance or repair needs and reports them to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in special construction projects as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
