About The Position

The Groundskeeper is responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of the facility’s interior and exterior. Duties include routine and project cleaning, such as stripping and waxing floors, shampooing or spot-cleaning carpets, and cleaning signage, light fixtures, and vents; painting; minor repairs; lawn care; snow removal; and preventive maintenance. The role also involves cleaning, storing, and maintaining department equipment, and, when required, standing safety and lookout watches during heightened security alerts as described by the Department of Homeland Security, Iowa DNR, and USCG. The Groundskeeper follows regulatory, safety, departmental, and company policies; supports safety and accident-prevention programs; and reports safety concerns to the CSA on duty. The employee is expected to represent the company positively and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to operate hand and power tools, emergency equipment, and cleaning equipment.
Good oral communication skills and ability to follow directions.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively over handheld radios.
Ability to stand, sit, or lie down for prolonged periods.
Physical mobility, with reasonable accommodations, including ability to push, pull, and lift up to 75 pounds.
Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance while performing duties in varying work areas, including confined spaces.
Ability to work at varying heights.
Ability to listen and respond to visual and aural cues.
Ability to tolerate secondhand smoke, varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibration, crowds, and air quality.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in lawn maintenance, marine operations, janitorial work, or specialty cleaning.
General knowledge of chemicals, cleaners, strippers, and waxes.

Responsibilities

Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility’s interior and exterior.
Perform routine and project cleaning, including floor stripping and waxing, carpet shampooing or spot cleaning, and cleaning signage, light fixtures, and vents.
Perform painting, minor repairs, lawn care, snow removal, and preventive maintenance.
Clean, store, and maintain department equipment.
When required, stand safety and lookout watches during heightened security alerts.
Follow regulatory, safety, departmental, and company policies.
Support safety and accident-prevention programs, including PPE, LO/TO, BBP, and HAZCOM.
Inform the CSA on duty of safety problems or concerns.
Represent the company positively and encourage others to do the same.
Perform other related and compatible duties as assigned.
