About The Position

The Groundskeeper is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility’s interior and exterior. Duties include routine and project cleaning, such as stripping and waxing floors, shampooing or spot-cleaning carpets, and cleaning signage, light fixtures, and vents; painting; minor repairs; lawn care; snow removal; and preventive maintenance. The role also includes cleaning, storing, and maintaining department equipment.

When required, the Groundskeeper stands safety and lookout watches during heightened security alerts described by the Department of Homeland Security, Iowa DNR, and USCG. The role follows regulatory, safety, departmental, and company policies; supports safety and accident-prevention programs; and reports safety concerns to the CSA on duty. The Groundskeeper is expected to represent the company positively and perform other related and compatible duties as assigned.

The position serves Harrah’s Council Bluffs, Horseshoe Council Bluffs, the Mid-America Center, and the Hilton Garden Inn, which are part of Caesars Entertainment’s portfolio.

Requirements

• Ability to operate hand and power tools, emergency equipment, and cleaning equipment.
• Good oral communication skills; ability to follow directions and communicate clearly and effectively over handheld radios.
• Ability to stand, sit, or lie down for prolonged periods.
• Physical mobility, with reasonable accommodations, including ability to push, pull, and lift up to 75 pounds, and to reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance while working in varying areas, including confined spaces.
• Ability to work at varying heights.
• Ability to listen and respond to visual and aural cues.
• Ability to tolerate secondhand smoke, varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibration, crowds, and air quality.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in lawn maintenance, marine operations, janitorial work, or specialty cleaning.
• General knowledge of chemicals, cleaners, strippers, and waxes.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of facility interiors and exteriors.
