About The Position
A groundskeeper maintains the aesthetic appeal, safety, and functionality of outdoor spaces, including lawns, gardens, and athletic fields. Key responsibilities include mowing, planting, trimming, and fertilizing; operating equipment like mowers and tractors; and performing maintenance tasks such as irrigation repair and snow removal.
Requirements
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including bending, lifting, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Knowledge of how to safely operate and maintain power tools and landscaping machinery.
- Familiarity with plant care, soil preparation, and pest control techniques.
- Valid Driver's License: Frequently required for transporting equipment and materials.
Responsibilities
- Planting trees, shrubs, flowers, and grass; weeding, pruning, and mulching garden beds.
- Mowing, edging, aeration, and fertilization of lawns and athletic fields.
- Removing litter, leaves, and debris to ensure clean walkways, parking lots, and common areas.
- Using hand tools and heavy machinery, such as tractors, mowers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and snowblowers.
- Installing, repairing, and monitoring sprinkler systems.
- Inspecting grounds for hazards, maintaining outdoor furniture, and clearing snow/ice.
