About The Position

Performs moderately heavy manual work in the care and maintenance of grounds, including plants, shrubs, lawns, and sprinkler systems. Maintains sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other grounds features. Assists with installing and maintaining signs, barricades, fences, and irrigation systems. This is an essential personnel position, with availability required for on-call emergency maintenance and campus preparation during inclement or hazardous weather conditions.

Requirements

• No previous experience or education required.
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
• Availability for all on-call duty for emergency maintenance or campus preparation during inclement or hazardous weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Care for and maintain plants, shrubs, lawns, and sprinkler systems.
• Maintain sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other grounds features.
• Assist with installing and maintaining signs, barricades, fences, and irrigation systems, including digging lines and replacing heads and valves.
• Report hazards such as broken limbs, uneven walks, holes in turf areas, and broken benches.
• Mow, edge, and trim turf areas; collect debris daily; weed planting beds; and water trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf areas.
• Spread sand and remove snow and ice from walkways.
• Plant trees, shrubs, ground cover, and annual flowers using proper horticultural techniques.
• Be available for on-call emergency maintenance and campus preparation due to inclement or hazardous weather conditions.
