About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Groundskeeper/Maintenance Technician I performs unskilled to semi-skilled work in the daily and preventive care, repair, and maintenance of building systems and equipment. The position serves as an apprentice and performs basic plumbing, electrical, roofing, flooring, masonry, painting, mechanical, and carpentry tasks. The Groundskeeper is responsible for the proper maintenance of community grounds and the equipment used to maintain a clean, manicured appearance. Work involves operating light to medium machinery and using hand tools to prune trees, mow and edge lawns, remove debris, and maintain plantings. As a representative and team member of the environmental services department, this position is expected to present oneself in a manner that reflects professionalism and ensures resident satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Performs various landscaping duties such as planting and mowing grass, planting and trimming hedges and shrubbery, pruning trees, trimming weeds, maintaining flower beds, raking leaves, mulching using tractors, power lawn mowers, string trimmers and various hand tools.
  • Sprays insecticide or herbicides as needed.
  • Applies fertilizer as needed.
  • Makes regular inspections of assigned areas daily for cleanliness; remove limbs, rake leaves, debris, and litter, and other hazards including those created by environmental conditions ensuring that grounds are properly maintained.
  • Monitors, maintains, and repairs irrigation system.
  • Perform assigned maintenance duties and routine preventive maintenance. Identify deficiencies and follow procedure for correcting problems.
  • Maintain all tools, equipment and supplies in proper condition, and notifies supervisors to ensure adequate replacements are available as needed.
  • Assist with refurbishment projects and repairs.
  • Install, finish, repair, paint, remove and dispose of drywall or other material.
  • Pick up and deliver supplies.
  • Operate maintenance equipment not limited to hand or power tools, company vehicles, or snow blowers.
  • Provide data for maintenance reports as requested.
