About The Position

Performs moderately heavy manual work in the care and maintenance of grounds including the care and maintenance of plants, shrubs, lawns, and the installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems. Maintain all aspects of grounds, including turf, irrigation systems, fences, trees, shrubs, ground covers, flowerbeds, walkways, and hardscapes. Drive, maneuver, and service vehicles and equipment equipped with blades in successive passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and level earth or terrain. Advise foreperson of project status and operational problems. This is an essential personnel position. You will need to be available for on-call duty for emergency maintenance or to assist in campus preparation due to inclement weather or hazardous weather conditions. Start engines, move throttles, switches, levers, and depress pedals to operate machines such as bulldozers, trench, excavators, road graders, and backhoes. Utilize proper safety equipment and techniques to prevent personal injury and property damage and comply with the grounds maintenance safety program to include all safety and health rules, regulations, and operating policies and procedures. Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials using trucks, crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment.
