About The Position

Fort Worth Country Day is seeking a full-time Grounds Worker to be part of the Plant Operations department. This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly paid position typically working Monday through Friday 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. The ideal candidate should possess a thoughtful approach and knowledge of intercultural communication and inclusion of underrepresented groups. Fort Worth Country Day is a coed, junior kindergarten through grade 12 college-preparatory day school with approximately 1,100 students and 250 faculty and staff. Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to perform work independently without close supervision
  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire 8-hour shift
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, reach and crouch
  • Must be able to lift, carry and transfer items up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and work in elevated areas
  • Must be able to drive a golf cart on school grounds
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all climates and conditions

Responsibilities

  • Mowing, edging and fertilizing lawns
  • Weeding and mulching landscape beds
  • Trimming small trees, hedges and shrubs
  • Removing unwanted, dead or damaged trees
  • Planting shrubs, flowers and trees
  • Watering gardens, lawns and landscapes
  • Monitoring and maintaining plant health
  • Ability to operate equipment to include a tractor
  • Communicate with fellow employees and supervisors
  • Other duties as assigned
