About The Position

Under direct supervision, this role involves cutting grass, repairing damaged lawns, and pruning trees and shrubs. The Grounds Worker will also lay out and tend flower beds or other decorative vegetation, maintain driveways and parking lots, and perform routine cleaning and maintenance on gardening and grounds equipment. All work must be performed in accordance with established safety procedures.

Requirements

• Basic Reading and Writing
• Less than 6 months of work experience
• Grounds maintenance skills
• Ability to carry and/or lift 45 pounds or more.

Responsibilities

• Performs general grounds maintenance tasks year-round.
• Operates machinery necessary to maintain the grounds.
• Maintains the recycling center, and the garden shed, including storage of garden tools, equipment’s, insecticides and fertilizers.
• May attend to all plants, fish and animals during school breaks and summer months.
• May assist the beekeeper with the beehives, which is necessary for pollination of the gardens.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
