About The Position
The Grounds Technician – Golf Course Operations plays an essential role in the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of Shanty Creek Resorts’ golf courses. This hands-on position supports turf care, landscaping, and overall grounds upkeep to ensure high-quality playing conditions and an exceptional guest experience. Working under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, the Grounds Technician operates a variety of grounds maintenance equipment, performs routine maintenance tasks, and helps preserve the natural beauty of the resort’s golf facilities. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to operate basic grounds maintenance equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and utility vehicles.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repetitive movement.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new tasks, equipment, and turf care techniques.
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Strong work ethic and pride in maintaining clean, attractive outdoor spaces.
- Appreciation for golf course appearance, playability, and guest experience.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in golf course maintenance, landscaping, or groundskeeping.
- Familiarity with basic turf care practices.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with outdoor equipment.
- Interest in golf, turf management, landscaping, or outdoor maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Mow greens, tees, fairways, and rough using riding and walking mowers.
- Maintain bunkers, landscaping beds, and other golf course features.
- Perform trimming, edging, and debris removal to maintain course appearance.
- Assist with irrigation monitoring and minor repairs.
- Safely apply topdressing, seed, fertilizer, and other turf materials under supervision.
- Operate utility vehicles and grounds maintenance equipment safely.
- Perform light equipment maintenance and report repair needs to supervisors.
- Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to support smooth daily operations.
- Assist with event and tournament setup as needed.
- Support general golf course maintenance tasks as assigned.
