About The Position

The principal duty of all employees is to assist in the mission of the Church in the Diocese of Fort Worth. This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of all activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. In collaboration with Pastor and Business Manager, is responsible for providing adequate and preventive maintenance on all parish buildings Church/Family Life Center/Parish Office/Rectory/Religious Education Building (REB)}, equipment, grounds, parking areas and vehicles to ensure safety to all persons, including staff and visitors, and to extend the life and appearance of these items.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • Work experience (1-3 years)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders and work from elevated platforms.
  • On call availability for emergencies.
  • Required to perform strenuous walking, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, twisting, grasping, and reaching overhead.
  • Must maintain a satisfactory background check, valid driver’s license and Safe Environment certification.

Responsibilities

  • Establish accountability for maintaining facilities by inspecting parish facilities daily and address areas needing attention (periodic preventive maintenance/cleaning and safety checks)
  • Provide cleaning services, e.g. trash removal, mopping, vacuuming, dusting of furniture, cleaning windows, restroom cleaning, etc. in the Church building, Family Life Center, and Parish Office.
  • Perform a variety of installation, repair and renovation to all buildings including but not limited to electrical fixtures and switches, changing out light fixtures, minor repair of some equipment including- electrical appliances, motorized equipment, sinks, commodes, hand basins, kitchen appliances, etc.
  • Perform light grounds keeping as needed to include mowing/edging, semi-annual shrub pruning and cleaning of roof gutters on the parish office grounds and REB.
  • Responsible for executing safety precautions to minimize security threats in the Church building by assessing/inspecting the entire building at the beginning of each work day for any security breach and at the end of each work day before locking/securing doors upon exiting the Church grounds.
  • Collaborate with the Pastor and Business Manager to establish third-party contracts for maintenance to include scheduling third-party maintenance, repairs, & custodial work and evaluate and follow-up, as needed. May assist subcontractors/contractors when repairing or maintaining OLQP property.
  • Secure and store all cleaning supplies and equipment after completion of cleaning and evaluate janitorial/cleaning/maintenance supplies and restock & order, as needed.
  • Perform regular quarterly maintenance checks on OLQP bus and facilitate the transport of vehicles for preventive maintenance and/or to obtain annual vehicle inspection.
  • Serve as a resource to coordinate room setup and teardown with parish staff and volunteers, as needed.
  • Oversee the scheduling of seasonal maintenance on HVAC systems at the Church, Rectory, Parish Office and at the REB.
  • Monitor the outsourced routine maintenance of the Church grounds (lawn care) and sprinkler repairs, as needed.
  • Removal of snow and ice from roadways, parking lots ramps and walkways, as needed.
  • Responsible for motorized vehicles, tools and all other Church equipment.
  • Accept deliveries to all building facilities, as needed.
  • Move and transport furniture, books, and misc. items to/from buildings, as needed.
  • Evaluate any maintenance issues that may arise at REB weekly and communicate any problems/concerns.
  • Test and inspect all sprinkler systems on a monthly basis and report any problems/concerns.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor, based on location needs.
