About The Position

The Grounds Maintenance position is primarily responsible for maintaining the appearance and functionality of outdoor spaces including, the care of grounds, shrubs, trees, and other landscaping. This role involves following hotel policies, promoting safety and security, and performing various landscaping tasks. The position also requires cleaning outdoor facilities, assisting with construction projects, and ensuring equipment readiness. The employee must maintain knowledge of correct equipment use and departmental policies.

Requirements

Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Fluency in other languages is beneficial.
Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with urgency and empathy.
Professional in appearance and demeanor.
Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with guests, vendors, and team members.
Must have the ability to resolve problems and/or conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping preferred.
Knowledge of horticulture, plant care, and landscaping techniques.

Responsibilities

Follow Hotel policies with lost and found items.
Adhere to Hotel requirements for guest and team member accidents or injuries and in emergency situations.
Continuously promote sanitation, safety, and security efforts.

Performs tasks common to the care of grounds and landscapes by: seeding, watering, mulching, fertilizing, and applying chemicals to outside plantings, lawns, and turf; physical and mechanical damage and identifying replacements; transplanting, pruning, trimming, and cultivating trees, shrubs, ground cover, and flowers.
Performs regular and directed grounds and landscape maintenance by trimming and edging around trees, shrubs, ground cover, flowers, sidewalks, and buildings; weeding, thinning, and cleaning flower beds and other grounds by hand or utilizing proper tools and equipment; and setting up, adjusting, repairing, and cleaning irrigation systems.
Removes unsightly trash and debris from public areas by regularly inspecting grounds, drains, manhole covers, etc., for debris; raking, sweeping, and bagging leaves, debris, dirt and trash from streets, sidewalks, parking lots, tunnels, and transporting the trash to designated central collection points on a daily basis.
Clean and maintain outdoor facilities, including benches, pathways, and playground equipment.
Assists in special construction projects as required.
Inspect, plan and ensure that all materials and equipment are in complete readiness for service.
Maintain knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.
Maintain knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
Other duties as assigned.
