About The Position

The purpose of this class within the organization is to perform maintenance and upkeep on public grounds, green spaces and/or historic parks in for a department, division or work unit. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Six months in grounds maintenance or closely related experience.
  • Must possess and maintain valid Driver's License.
  • Accountability - takes responsibility for own actions
  • Adaptability - responds positively to change
  • Communications - listens, speaks and/or writes in a clear, concise and respectful manner
  • Initiative - takes proactive action to complete work or resolve

Responsibilities

  • Strives to be efficient and effective at balancing and meeting the common needs and reasonable expectations of core constitutes.
  • Contributes towards the department's mission by continuously striving to meet expectations, strategic goals and objectives.
  • Performs various maintenance functions on public grounds, greenspaces and/or historic parks in including, but not limited to cutting grass, making minor repairs, picking up trash, cleaning, planting flowers and trees, trimming trees/bushes, pulling vines and weeds, and blowing leaves.
  • Operates various equipment including, but not limited to stump grinder, mower, chainsaw, weed eater, trimmer, tiller and backhoe; performs maintenance on mowers and other equipment.
