This position is located onsite in Fallon, Nevada. Provides Grounds Maintenance and Landscaping Services including lawn maintenance, vegetation removal, and debris removal for ground parcels designated as improved, semi-improved, unimproved areas and prestige areas to ensure a slightly appearance. Services include mowing, trimming, edging, irrigation systems maintenance, fertilization, aeration and weed control.

Requirements

  • One year of work experience in grounds maintenance with knowledge of ground maintenance standards, techniques, and materials.
  • Ability to identify and work safely with appropriate manual and power tools, mechanical and electrical equipment, to the task assigned.
  • Capable of understanding and following directions from lead/supervisor.
  • Capable of passing a background check for CAC Card and/or drug test as required by the contract.
  • Possess a valid State issued Driver’s License.
  • Possess an OSHA 10 card or have the ability to get one within the first 90 days of employment.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must be able to comprehend, read, speak, and write proficiently in the English language.
  • Communicate and work collaboratively and professionally on a team with various skill levels, and of various diverse backgrounds, and demonstrate good customer services skills.
  • Must be capable of standing and walking for long periods of time while working outdoors in diverse weather conditions.
  • Physical requirements involve bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, reaching, grabbing, pushing, pulling, twisting and shoveling.
  • Capable of lifting up to 70 lbs. and carrying a 20lb backpack blower.

Responsibilities

  • Mow lawns with walking-types or riding mowers. Aerates and removes thatch, ensuring a neat appearance and proper lawn health and growth.
  • Apply fertilizer, weed killer, and necessary pesticides in accordance with manufacturer’s instruction.
  • Use a blower and manually picks up trash, leaves, limbs, and provides a clean and neat appearance of the grounds.
  • Use a weed eater and pulls weeds and maintains flower beds. Rake and backfill mounds and holes created by burrowing animals to restore appearance of the grounds and inspect for new rodent activity.
  • Trim and prunes hedges, shrubs, and trees, edging around walks, flower beds, buildings and walls using hedge trimmers, clippers, shears and/or saws to maintain overall appearance of landscape and grounds.
  • Maintain outdoor artificial turf and xeriscape areas to ensure neat appearance.
  • Controls undesired vegetation.
  • Maintain Nature Trail to ensure grounds present a neat appearance and do not interfere with operational requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining, repairing and/or replacing irrigation systems and reading water meters.
  • May monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure that vegetation is properly irrigated.
  • Monitor equipment used and reports any malfunction or other issues.
  • Travel between facilities and work locations as required. May be required to drive company pick-up or small dump truck.
  • May complete basic paperwork and calculate materials and time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist other departments as required.
  • Managing and accurately tracking material resources and time and adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Tools and equipment within his or her possession.
  • Using PPE when required.
  • Daily cleaning of assigned workspaces.
  • Timely, cost-effective performance of duties with the ability to be flexible due to change of schedule, work duration and tasks.
  • Working closely and harmoniously with fellow workers.
  • Adherence to all Safety and Health rules and regulations.
