About The Position

The Groundman assists a team with building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems, with safety as a priority. The position reports to the Foreman and is an entry point into construction and maintenance of the power grid. Work takes place outdoors in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions, at construction sites and other job locations, including out-of-state assignments. The role involves rigorous physical labor and may require travel, outage and storm response, emergency callouts, on-call rotation, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
Able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Able to work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
Willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
Able to perform rigorous physical labor and the physical activities required for the role, including standing, walking, handling objects, operating tools or controls, and reaching.

Responsibilities

Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
Help install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
Follow safety protocols, including proper PPE use and understanding insulated protective cover to isolate differences of potential.
Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment (PPE), and understand when PPE must be worn.
Respond to outages, storms, and emergencies, including through an on-call rotation.
Communicate by talking, listening, and using hand signals.
