About The Position

The Groundman position is an entry point to a career in the construction and maintenance of the nation's power grid. The employee assists a team in building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems and reports to the Foreman. The work involves outdoor construction sites and may require travel, extended assignments, and work during outages, storms, emergencies, and other nonstandard hours. The role requires rigorous physical labor and consistent attention to safety, including proper use and inspection of personal protective equipment.

Requirements

Valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
Willingness to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, handling objects, operating tools or controls, reaching, and communicating by talking, listening, and hand signals.

Responsibilities

Perform new construction, maintenance, and repairs on overhead distribution systems while prioritizing safety.
Help install and repair overhead power lines, poles, insulators, conductors, and related hardware.
Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
Work outdoors in varying conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
Be available for outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotation.
Follow safety protocols, use PPE, and understand insulated protective cover used to isolate differences of potential.
Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment.
Understand when personal protective equipment must be worn.
Perform rigorous physical labor.
