The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This role involves advising and training lower grade workers on diagnosis and repair of less complex issues, inspecting and approving completed maintenance actions, and solving repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical publications. The mechanic will use automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions. They will diagnose and repair GSE using various testing equipment and hand tools, maintain external fuel and grounding systems, and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. This includes inspecting, testing, and operating GSE to determine serviceability, servicing equipment with necessary fluids, and diagnosing mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions. The role also includes disassembling and assembling GSE accessories and components, repairing, cleaning, and reinstalling GSE parts, and stenciling/marking GSE according to technical publications. Additionally, the mechanic will manage hazardous materials and waste in compliance with environmental regulations, prepare GSE for storage and mobility, and operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles. Maintaining vehicle and equipment records, providing dispatch service for GSE, and practicing good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety are also key aspects of this position.
