This role involves diagnosing malfunctions and repairing Ground Support Equipment (GSE). The mechanic will advise and train lower-grade workers, inspect and approve completed maintenance actions, and solve repair problems by studying technical documentation. Responsibilities include using automated maintenance data systems, analyzing equipment requirements, maintaining equipment records, and documenting maintenance actions. The mechanic will diagnose and repair GSE using various testing equipment and hand tools, maintain external fuel and grounding systems, perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine serviceability. Servicing equipment with fluids and diagnosing mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions are key duties. The role also includes disassembling, repairing, and reassembling GSE components, stenciling and marking GSE, and handling hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations. Additionally, the mechanic will prepare GSE for storage and deployment, operate and service GSE towing vehicles, maintain vehicle records, provide dispatch service for GSE, and practice good housekeeping, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety.
