About The Position

This position is responsible for accurately processing specimens and ensuring that all support systems are operated according to established procedures. The technician will work within the guidelines set forth within the gross department manual and must be accurate and productive, adhering to all department protocols and procedures. The role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks, and professional interaction with others.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science
Accurate data entry skills
Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing demands
Ability to maintain focus and consistently deliver quality work within tight timeframes
Must be accurate and productive
Must adhere to all department protocols and procedures
Must be reliable, dependable and have an excellent attendance history
Must be a team player
Working knowledge of office equipment

Recognizes the irretrievability of each sample submitted and processes each specimen with respect.
Ability to provide the pathology staff with the following information on each case: size, color, weight, dimensions, count, labeling of cassettes into which the specimens are placed, appropriate comments, and techniques employed in the cut and works within the guidelines set forth within the gross department manual.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to do detailed multi-tasks.
Ability to deal effectively and professionally with others.

Responsibilities

Accurately process specimens.
Ensure all support systems are operated according to established procedures.
Provide pathology staff with information on each case: size, color, weight, dimensions, count, labeling of cassettes, appropriate comments, and techniques employed in the cut.
Notify department supervisor of any situation that goes beyond individual's education, training, or experience.
Perform accurate data entry.
Prioritize and adapt to changing demands.
Maintain focus and consistently deliver quality work within tight timeframes.
Adhere to all department protocols and procedures.
Be reliable, dependable, and have an excellent attendance history.

Assist in other areas of the lab as directed.
