About The Position

Destination Pet is hiring a Groomer at Hope Animal Clinic. The Groomer provides grooming services for pets, helping them look and feel their best while delivering a calm, kind, and safe experience. Pay may be hourly for the first 60 days or commission-based from the start, at the employee’s choice. Commission is 50%, or 40% when working with a bather; basic baths may receive 30% commission if applicable. The role offers flexible scheduling and quality-over-quantity expectations. Professional grooming equipment is provided and sharpened twice a year.

Requirements

• Professional grooming experience is required.
• Proven experience grooming a wide range of breeds and coat types.
• Time management, attention to detail, and a customer-first mindset.
• Familiarity with pet behavior, stress signals, and safe handling practices.
• Clear communication with clients, teammates, and pets.
• Reliable, calm under pressure, and eager to keep learning.
• Love of animals and a commitment to treating each pet with care.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and safely manage large or nervous dogs.
• Ability to work in a physically active environment with heat, cold, water, and noise.
• Ability to tolerate exposure to fur, cleaning chemicals, wet pets, accidents, and unpredictable animal behavior.

Responsibilities

• Snip, shape, and style pets according to owner preferences or breed standards.
• Trim nails, clean ears, brush teeth, and perform other grooming tasks.
• Bathe dogs or work with bathers to prepare pets for grooming.
• Discuss grooming needs, coat care, and trends with pet owners.
• Keep the grooming station neat and tools sharp.
• Assist the front desk when pets are ready for pickup.
• Provide a calm, kind, and safe experience for every animal in care.
• Represent Destination Pet’s values of compassion, quality, and community.
