About The Position

The Grocery Sales Associate keeps the Grocery department stocked, organized, clean, and appealing to meet customer needs and support sales. The associate stocks and rotates merchandise, builds displays, maintains correct product placement and pricing, and follows backroom organization and sanitation guidelines. The role also involves assisting customers, handling merchandise and deliveries, maintaining productivity and shrink-control standards, following security and safety policies, and cooperating with coworkers and supervisors. Additional duties in other departments may be assigned. No supervisory responsibilities are currently associated with this position.

Requirements

Completed or working toward a high school diploma or GED.
No prior experience required.
Able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without accommodation.
Use company-provided personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

Keep the Grocery department stocked, organized, and appealing to meet customer demands and maximize sales.
Build displays to drive incremental sales.
Stock and rotate merchandise to ensure freshness, keep products within easy customer reach, and store excess merchandise according to backroom guidelines.
Greet customers, answer questions, and promptly and professionally help resolve customer concerns.
Use proper stocking techniques and ensure products are correctly located, in saleable condition, and marked with correct prices and signs.
May assist with receiving, unloading, checking in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power jack or hand jack after training.
Handle damaged or discontinued items according to company policy and remove unsalable products.
Maintain general department sanitation; follow cleaning schedules and guidelines so work areas, equipment, counters, and display cases are clean and meet health and OSHA requirements.
Dispose of trash properly.
Maintain productivity, work-method, and shrink-control standards, and stock at the rate required by company standards.
Comply with security regulations and policies.
May assist with baling cardboard or related duties after training.
Cooperate with coworkers and supervisors to ensure smooth department and store operations.
Continuously improve job performance.
Use company-provided personal protective equipment, including items such as cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
May assist in other departments.
