About The Position

The Grocery Night Clerk provides exceptional customer service and helps maintain a safe, clean environment that encourages customers to return. The role assists the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitors established quality assurance standards. The clerk supports the Customer 1st strategy and demonstrates the company’s values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Requirements

Ability to handle stressful situations.
Knowledge of basic math, including counting, addition, and subtraction.
Effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Any retail experience.
Ability to speak, read, and/or write in a second language.

Responsibilities

Promote trust and respect among associates.
Help customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
Maintain knowledge of department products and answer questions or make suggestions.
Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of specials.
Check product quality and freshness, review sell-by dates, and take appropriate action.
Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise; provide customers with fresh products they ordered.
Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
Maintain a positive attitude.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special advertisements.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Maintain appropriate temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify store management.
Inspect equipment for preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate manager of items needing repair.
Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
Report safety risks or issues and illegal activity, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
Perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
