About The Position

C.A. Fortune is hiring a part-time Grocery Merchandiser to manage an assigned territory in the Newport News, Virginia area, within a 40–60 mile radius. The role involves visiting grocery stores, completing surveys and audits, carrying out merchandising tasks, and reporting results using mobile technology. The merchandiser works independently with minimal supervision and travels between store locations in the assigned territory.

The position includes selling and merchandising products, gaining and maintaining distribution, building relationships with store teams, keeping products stocked, and ordering products when they are out of stock or running low. It requires regular use of mobile apps for reporting, uploading photos, completing tasks, and communicating. The work involves switching between stocking, reporting, and communicating with store teams, as well as standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds. The schedule is 10 hours per week, with scheduled working hours and some route flexibility. Compensation is $20 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and skills.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Reliable transportation.
• Valid driver's license.
• Proof of automobile insurance.
• Reliable phone that is within five years old, with service and internet access for daily communication.
• Ability to drive to stores in the assigned territory to complete retail tasks and audits.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow directions independently.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift regularly throughout the day.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail, sales, or merchandising experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage the assigned territory by completing store visits, surveys, tasks, and audits.
• Sell and merchandise products and gain or maintain product distribution in assigned accounts.
• Build strong relationships with store teams.
• Order products that are out of stock or running low and work new orders onto shelves.
• Ensure client products are accurately represented and well stocked on store shelves.
• Travel between store locations within the designated territory.
• Use mobile apps to complete reports and tasks, upload photos, and communicate.
• Maintain a safe working environment in stores.
• Maintain a professional appearance and follow dress code and attendance guidelines.
• Comply with additional guidelines established by the Store Team.
• Attend client kickoff video calls and team check-ins as required.
