About The Position

Grocery Clerks ensure the grocery section is well-stocked and assist with receiving, storing, and stocking products while maintaining proper product rotation and quality. They must be familiar with store products and their locations to help customers find items. As PFM team members, they exemplify Pete’s Four Pillars of Value, Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 0–3 years of experience in a grocery store or similar retail environment.
• Valid and up-to-date Food Handler’s Certificate.
• Demonstrated knowledge of department functions.
• Ability to provide and model exceptional customer service.
• Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively with customers, store leadership, and fellow team members.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in groups.
• Reliable source of transportation.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods; bend, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; frequently push or pull up to 100 pounds; frequently lift or move loads up to 50 pounds; and occasionally lift 75 pounds.
• Ability to work in coolers and freezers and withstand frequent temperature changes for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide all guests with exceptional customer service and meet or exceed company service standards.
• Use a scan gun and stock grocery department shelves effectively.
• Rotate products and monitor product and sign expiration dates.
• Stock and face department products, build product displays, and handle product damages and credits according to company policy.
• Complete stocking and cleanup duties efficiently and promptly.
• Assist with store operations such as cleaning or hanging signs, depending on business needs.
• Assist with back-stock and ensure items are returned promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
