About The Position

Youngstown Pipe and Steel is seeking a candidate who has the ability to use a hand grinder to smooth the sharp edges of burn outs in steel of various dimensions, shapes and sizes. The ideal candidate takes pride in precision work, follows safety and quality standards and has a good work ethic.

Requirements

Ability to read customer orders and follow safety regulations
Ability to read a tape measure
Ability to work with others to accomplish daily requirements of the position
Valid driver's license or state issued ID and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

Dress the grinding wheel according to specifications.
Monitor machine operations to determine whether adjustments are necessary and stop machines when problems occur.
Inspect, feel, and measure work pieces to ensure that the surfaces and dimensions meet specifications.
Set up and operate machines to grind various materials and place the material in boxes or on pallets.
File or finish surfaces of work pieces, using prescribed hand tools.
Select and mount grinding wheels on machines, according to specifications.
Use hand tools and apply knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures to daily work duties.
Remove and replace worn or broken machine parts.
Compute numbers, widths, and angles of cutting tools, scales, and gauges.
Adjust tools to produce specified cuts.
