About The Position
The Grill Master (Cook) creates a “Best in Class” guest experience at El Pollo Loco by preparing grilled and hot food items according to precise company standards for preparation and presentation. The role involves preparing fire-grilled chicken and other proteins while helping deliver craveable flavors and memorable guest experiences. Previous customer service or food service experience is preferred but not required. The position offers full-time or part-time hours and a flexible schedule. Benefits have eligibility requirements based on average weekly hours and length of employment; eligibility begins after at least 12 months of employment averaging 33 hours per week.

Responsibilities
- Prepare, marinate, season, cook, stock, and rotate chicken and other grilled proteins according to company standards.
- Receive orders, cut cooked chicken, and arrange proteins for proper presentation on plates or in applicable packaging.
- Monitor holding times for grilled proteins and take corrective action when holding time expires or product quality does not meet company standards.
- Ensure cooked proteins are at the proper serving temperature.
- Inspect raw chicken and other proteins for acceptable quality before marinating or grilling.
- Clean and sanitize the work area, including equipment, tools, storage containers, grills, and hoods.
