About The Position

The responsibility of the Grill Cook is to prepare, cook, and serve food items on the grill and to coordinate with the Executive Chef on all daily and special function menus. This role involves setting up, restocking, and breaking down the grill station, preparing daily production of meal items and menu specials, and ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are met.

Requirements

  • Partial High School education required
  • Culinary knowledge
  • Food Safety certified
  • Strong sanitation habits
  • Strong customer service abilities
  • Ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and communicate it to management
  • Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks, with frequent movements from place to place
  • Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to stand for the entire work day
  • Ability to climb steps regularly
  • Ability to withstand temperature extremes in freezer, refrigerator walk-in and grill areas
  • Ability to read and write work-related documents in English
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English
  • Constant communication and receiving verbal communication with other employees in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties

Responsibilities

  • Setting up, restocking, and breaking down of the grill
  • Daily production of meal items and daily menu specials
  • Preparing daily specials, hot sandwich production, and sides for service
  • Following recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and tasting meats, vegetables, and other grilled foods
  • Operating a variety of kitchen equipment for food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, shredding, and trimming meat and poultry
  • Reporting all malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor
  • Tasting food products, reading menus, estimating food requirements, checking production, and keeping records to plan production requirements
  • Controlling food production to ensure proper recycling or disposal of extra food products to manage food waste
  • Cleaning all equipment and utensils used in the grill prep and production area
  • Maintaining temperature logs and signage for the grill station
  • Maintaining awareness of safety issues and reporting them immediately to management
