About The Position

We're seeking a Grid Modernization Specialist, OMS Lead to serve as a senior technical expert and trusted partner to utility clients across North America. This role is built for someone who understands outage management from the inside: the control room pressure, the storm response complexity, the integration challenges, and the operational stakes of getting it right. Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in utility outage management, OMS implementation, or distribution operations
  • Hands-on experience with major OMS and ADMS platforms
  • Strong working knowledge of: Outage detection and prediction, Crew dispatch and ETR (Estimated Time of Restoration) management, Switching and tagging safety processes, Storm response coordination, SCADA and AMI integration
  • Familiarity with IEEE 1366 standards and utility reliability metrics, including: SAIDI (System Average Interruption Duration Index), SAIFI (System Average Interruption Frequency Index), CAIDI (Customer Average Interruption Duration Index)
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to drive alignment across utility business, operations, vendor, and IT stakeholders
  • Effectively operate in high-visibility, cross-functional environments

Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of OMS delivery, from solution design and architecture through configuration, testing, and go-live
  • Lead design workshops with utility stakeholders to gather requirements and align on solutions
  • Translate complex business needs into functional requirements and system configurations
  • Ensure end-to-end traceability from requirements through testing outcomes
  • Collaborate across the ADMS ecosystem, aligning OMS with GIS, SCADA, AMI, IVR, and mobile workforce systems
  • Serve as the primary liaison between utility control room teams, customer operations, field crews, and external vendors (e.g., Schneider Electric, GE, Oracle, CGI, OSI, ABB)
  • Assess current-state outage management workflows and identify improvement opportunities
  • Define and shape future-state standard operating procedures (SOPs) for dispatchers, operators, and field crews
  • Support training initiatives and help drive user adoption of OMS solutions
  • Enable utilities to build strong operational change management capabilities
  • Lead OMS solution design and architecture efforts
  • Configure and deploy OMS and Switching Management modules within ADMS platforms
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test scenarios, including high-activity and blackout conditions
  • Provide go/no-go recommendations based on testing results and risk assessments
  • Support business process development and operational change management initiatives
  • Contribute thought leadership to the Grid Modernization practice, particularly in outage management and storm response
