About The Position

Gotham Greens is seeking passionate, driven, and hardworking individuals to work in its greenhouse. This is a hands-on role suited to people who enjoy rolling up their sleeves and are accustomed to manual, labor-intensive work. Prior experience in the natural and organic food industry is a plus but is not required. The position offers an opportunity to join a rapidly growing, innovative company working to transform the food system. Gotham Greens is a pioneer in urban indoor agriculture and a fresh produce and food company. Through a national network of local high-tech farms, it supplies leafy greens, herbs, salad dressings, and pesto dip to retail, restaurant, and food service customers year-round. Since launching in 2011, the company has grown from a single urban rooftop greenhouse in Brooklyn to a multi-state greenhouse operator and one of North America's largest hydroponic leafy green producers.

Requirements

Be authorized to work in the United States.
Be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
Work efficiently and pay attention to detail.
Have reliable transportation.
Have open availability to work various schedules, including holidays and weekends.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in the natural and organic food industry.

Responsibilities

Operate seeding machines.
Transplant seedlings according to quality standards.
Identify and cull plants with pests or disease.
Harvest mature plants.
Move and rearrange growing equipment as needed.
Assist with loading and unloading greenhouse materials.
Compost unused plants.
Assist with daily cleaning of production areas, equipment, and supplies.
Assist with periodic cleaning of facility common areas.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), company food safety and employee safety policies, and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs).
Perform additional duties as assigned.
