About The Position

The Greenhouse Lead provides day-to-day support and direction to Production Assistants in greenhouse operations and reports directly to the Greenhouse Supervisor. The role supports scheduled seeding, transplanting, watering, greenhouse workflow, employee training, food-safety procedures, and recordkeeping. The Lead covers for the Greenhouse Supervisor during absences and provides weekend support as needed. Weekend work and off-hour calls may be required during emergencies. Prior experience in the natural and organic food industry is a plus but is not required.

Responsibilities

Monitor daily seeding and ensure seeding and watering are completed on schedule.
Monitor and direct transplanting and seeding activities according to schedule.
Assist with daily morning walkthroughs and water-meter and stock-tank readings.
Help ensure efficient workflow throughout the day.
Assist with fertilizer and acid mixing duties.
Help train new employees.
Maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly GFSI logs and records.
Provide weekend support as needed for walkthroughs and other needs.
Supervise and keep food-safety logs and records accurate and up to date.
Supervise and enforce food-safety procedures, including GAP and GMP.
Cover for the Greenhouse Supervisor when the supervisor is off or on vacation.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Assist with unrelated or unassigned tasks as needed to ensure effective greenhouse and PH operations.
Identify problems and areas for improved efficiency.
