About The Position

Stefanini Group is hiring a Greenhouse Technician for a 12-month assignment that may extend to 24 months. The role supports trait introgression initiatives by working inside and outside the greenhouse and headhouse. The technician samples genetically engineered plant tissue for DNA and protein testing, plants engineered cotton seeds, and maintains suitable growing conditions. Additional work includes preparing buffer solutions to extract protein from cotton leaves and assisting with plant selection, transplanting, placement, and care.

Greenhouse tasks may include monitoring water, cleaning, hanging harvest bags, harvesting, fertilizing, pruning, crossing, re-clipping and stringing plants, and removing trash. The work is performed in a team setting as well as independently, and the environment can be very hot. Candidates must be attentive to detail and able to stand for long periods.

The position is 100% onsite at 7622 Smythe Farm Rd, Memphis, TN 38120. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a 30-minute lunch, for 40 hours per week. Two positions are available.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in a science-related field preferred; a high school diploma or GED will also work.
• Greenhouse, plant care, or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sample genetically engineered plant tissue for DNA and protein testing to identify desired traits.
• Plant engineered cotton seeds and maintain suitable conditions for growth.
• Prepare buffer solution to extract protein from cotton leaves.
• Assist with plant selection, transplanting, plant placement, and plant care.
• Monitor water and perform greenhouse cleaning.
• Hang harvest bags and harvest plants.
• Fertilize, prune, cross, re-clip, and string plants.
• Remove trash and perform related greenhouse and headhouse tasks.
