About The Position

Stefanini Group is hiring a Greenhouse Technician for an onsite, 12-month assignment in Memphis, Tennessee, which may continue for up to 24 months. The technician will work inside and outside the greenhouse and headhouse, supporting trait introgression initiatives through plant care, sampling, and related greenhouse activities. The work is performed in a team setting and independently, and the greenhouse environment can be very hot.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in a potentially very hot environment.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in a science-related field.
• Greenhouse, plant care, or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Sample genetically engineered plant tissue for DNA and protein testing to identify desired traits.
• Plant engineered cotton seeds and maintain suitable growing conditions.
• Prepare buffer solution to extract protein from cotton leaves.
• Assist with plant selection, transplanting, plant placement, and plant care.
• Monitor watering and perform greenhouse cleaning.
• Hang harvest bags and harvest plants.
• Fertilize and prune plants.
• Cross, re-clip, and string plants.
• Clean areas and dispose of trash.
