The Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program provides two-year, paid, full-time Congressional Fellowship employment opportunities for Veterans, Gold Star family members, and Active-Duty spouses in the U.S. House of Representatives. Fellows work directly for a Member of Congress or another House officer as part of an office team. Aides may be assigned to Members, Committees, or House Officers and serve in Washington, DC, or in Member district offices across the country. Duties vary by office and may include constituent services, helping constituents resolve issues with federal agencies, liaising with local Veterans Service Organizations, attending local events and meetings on behalf of a Member of Congress, and performing legislative work. Specific office duties are discussed during the interview process. Participation is limited to eligible Veterans, Gold Star family members, and Active-Duty spouses who meet the program’s stated eligibility conditions. Veterans must have been honorably discharged, released from active duty within the last six years, and meet the stated pay-grade limits; certain recent promotions may be eligible if all other requirements are met. Veterans receiving a 20-year or TERA retirement are ineligible. Gold Star applicants must be a qualifying surviving family member of a veteran who died in the line of duty or from a service-connected disability. Active-Duty spouses must be married to an Active-Duty service member; spouses of service members subject to Title X mobilization are ineligible. Candidates should be committed to improving federal government efficiency, passionate about the ideals of the American republic, and committed to upholding the rule of law and the United States Constitution. Applicants must provide documentation specific to their eligibility category. Do not contact or submit applications to congressional offices.
