About The Position

Gen C Communications, a fast-growing boutique brand agency originally founded in Vancouver and now expanding to Calgary, is seeking a driven, detail-oriented Intermediate Graphic Designer to join their Calgary studio. This role offers an opportunity for early-career designers to enhance their skills across digital, print, social, and web. The designer will collaborate closely with the Creative Director and a small, agile team, focusing on creating bold creative and smart strategy for clients in diverse industries. The position emphasizes growth, ownership, and making a tangible impact within a growing company.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in a graphic design role (agency experience is a plus but not a must)
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
• Strong eye for layout, typography, branding, and visual hierarchy
• Comfort with — or willingness to learn — AI tools to support workflow
• Impeccable attention to detail and ability to deliver polished, production-ready work
• Clear, professional communicator in both spoken and written English
• Understanding that design is about solving problems and creating effective, emotional work aligned with client goals
• Independent, adaptable, and proactive mindset
• Desire to grow with the company
• Enjoyment of working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Nice To Haves

• After Effects or Figma proficiency
• Motion design or video editing skills
• Photography/videography experience
• Web design or development capabilities

Responsibilities

• Designing digital and print assets for multiple brands and clients
• Creating social content, web banners, landing pages, and brochures
• Supporting concept development with mockups and production-ready designs
• Maintaining brand consistency and organizing files across deliverables
• Participating in internal and client meetings to present and refine work
• Preparing final files for print and managing vendor communications
• Managing workload in the internal PM system
