About The Position

As a creative design professional, the Graphic Designer develops visual communications that support Boise State University's marketing, outreach, and engagement goals. This position creates compelling print and digital materials, provides graphic design consultation to campus partners, and transforms ideas into impactful visual experiences that align with university brand standards. Working collaboratively with departmental clients and colleagues, the Graphic Designer helps shape the visual direction of marketing campaigns, promotional materials, publications, and multimedia projects while guiding concepts from initial design through final production.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles including design software involved in producing graphic art and visual materials for promotions, advertisements, films, packaging and informative and instructional material through a variety of media outlets.
  • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
  • Ability to think creatively in developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including artistic contributions.
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, plus 2 years professional experience

Responsibilities

  • Generate and manipulate graphic images, animations, sound, text, and video into cohesive multimedia projects.
  • Design layouts for promotional materials, exhibits, displays, publications, and other marketing assets.
  • Develop creative concepts and visual solutions that effectively communicate key messages and objectives.
  • Create design concepts and provide recommendations for advertising, marketing materials, and promotional campaigns.
  • Apply innovative thinking and creative problem-solving to develop engaging visual communications.
  • Consult with campus partners to identify project goals, audience needs, and communication objectives.
  • Manage projects from concept through completion, including client review, feedback, revisions, and final approval.
  • Translate design strategies and project goals into comprehensive creative briefs and actionable project plans.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine the direction, scope, and priorities of marketing and communication initiatives.
  • Ensure all design work aligns with university brand standards, policies, and visual identity guidelines.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop, refine, and enhance visual communications across multiple platforms.
  • Contribute to communication and marketing strategies by developing visual approaches that support organizational goals and client needs.
  • Provide professional graphic design expertise and consultation to support effective messaging and audience engagement.
  • Work closely with print and production vendors to ensure quality, efficiency, and successful project execution.
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies, design trends, software, and industry best practices, identifying opportunities for application within the organization.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry-standard printing and production methods to support effective design and delivery of materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
