About The Position

The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is seeking a Graphic Designer to produce high-quality visual content for AMS-wide campaigns, services, and events. This role involves creating digital and print assets such as posters, social media graphics, merchandise mockups, and signage. The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Marketing team, ensuring brand consistency while contributing creative ideas. The position requires managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and adapting to feedback in a fast-paced environment. Strong visual skills, attention to detail, and flexibility are essential.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign) and Canva Pro
  • Strong visual design skills, with an understanding of typography, layout, and color theory
  • Familiarity with adapting content for both digital and print media
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to receive, interpret, and apply constructive feedback
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain design decisions when needed
  • Familiarity MS (Teams, Excel, Words) Workspace

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in design work (student groups, freelance, or professional) considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Designs visual content for social media, print, merchandise, digital signage, and event promotion
  • Ensures all materials align with the AMS brand guidelines and visual identity
  • Formats assets for different platforms (Instagram posts/stories, website banners, posters, etc.)
  • Supports other departments with design requests as approved by the Director of Marketing
  • Revises existing designs based on team or stakeholder feedback
  • Prepares print-ready files when needed (e.g. for signage or merchandise)
  • Assists in maintaining design asset libraries and templates
  • Collaborates with the Director of Marketing and Social Media Supervisor on campaign visuals
  • Maintains an organized and efficient design workflow using cloud storage and project trackers
  • Other duties as assigned
