About The Position

Southeast Christian Church is seeking a Junior Graphic Designer for their Young Adults Ministry. This role is for a visual storyteller who understands how great creative earns attention, communicates clearly, and helps content perform, with a strong focus on social media. The designer will be part of the MarCom team and work closely with the YA Social Media Coordinator, while also being embedded with the Young Adults Ministry and reporting to the Young Adults Pastor. The primary responsibility is creating social-first visual content for platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, with potential support for other platforms and broader Young Adults creative needs across services, events, campaigns, and in-room experiences. The goal is to build a current, compelling, and cohesive visual presence for Southeast Young Adults.

Requirements

  • Strong foundational graphic design skills with a portfolio demonstrating excellent instincts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Strong understanding of Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, with familiarity across Facebook/Meta.
  • Understanding of what makes visual content perform in a social environment and how creative needs differ by platform, audience, and format.
  • Strong awareness of young adult culture and the creators, brands, visual language, and content shaping it.
  • Ability to think across both digital and physical creative applications and adapt design thinking to different ministry needs.
  • Ability to work quickly across multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Working AI fluency and curiosity about how emerging creative tools can accelerate ideation, exploration, and production.
  • A willingness to learn, receive feedback, experiment, and continually develop as a designer.
  • A heart for the Gospel and genuine desire to use creative work to help young adults know Jesus and connect to the local church.
  • Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church, or willing to become one.

Responsibilities

  • Create compelling, on-brand visual content for Southeast Young Adults across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and emerging platforms.
  • Design social-first assets including carousels, Stories, YouTube thumbnails, quote and teaching content, event promotion, campaigns, and other platform-specific creative.
  • Translate teaching, stories, ministry priorities, social concepts, and cultural moments into visual content that earns attention and communicates clearly.
  • Consider how creative choices influence audience engagement (stopping, watching, clicking, swiping, sharing, saving).
  • Support the Young Adults Pastor's social presence with visual content.
  • Adapt creative across platforms, understanding platform-native design needs.
  • Support broader Young Adults design needs for services, events, teaching series, campaigns, promotional moments, and in-room experiences.
  • Translate Young Adults ministry vision and priorities into cohesive digital and physical creative.
  • Collaborate with MarCom and Young Adults leadership to meet evolving creative needs.
  • Work directly with the YA Social Media Coordinator to translate social strategy into visual executions.
  • Collaborate with MarCom leadership to maintain design standards and brand alignment.
  • Stay connected with the Young Adults Pastor and ministry team to understand ministry context.
  • Participate actively in brainstorming and content planning, bringing creative solutions.
  • Be a collaborative and energizing team member.
  • Stay ahead of social media trends, design techniques, platform updates, and creative tools.
  • Study performing visual content across social platforms to understand why it works.
  • Develop creative concepts that push beyond templates and expected church content.
  • Learn from content performance insights to inform future creative decisions.
  • Apply discernment and creativity to balance cultural relevance with brand guardrails.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Organize and maintain working files, templates, and assets.
  • Review work carefully before delivery for accuracy, sizing, consistency, and brand alignment.
  • Receive and apply feedback effectively.
  • Communicate proactively about timelines, needs, challenges, and opportunities.
