About The Position

The Student Life & Leadership (SLL) Graphic Design Assistant AY 26-27 will support staff with various graphic design projects. This role involves creating promotional materials such as posters, flyers, brochures, handbills, social media graphics, and digital signage. The assistant will also help create graphics for the social media platforms of Student Life & Leadership and Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL). Responsibilities include maintaining brand consistency with CSUF guidelines, creating data visualizations, providing print and digital media support, and referring inquiries to the appropriate personnel. The position requires a minimum of two three-hour shifts per week during office hours (8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday), with potential for evening and weekend work.

Requirements

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Must be an enrolled student at CSU Fullerton at the time of application and throughout employment time period.
  • Must meet the CSU Minimum Qualifications for Student Office Holders.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Mature, self-motivated; quick learner.
  • Must have strong customer service skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment; excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use data to inform all decisions both verbally, visually and in written communications; ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administration; must be able to work with diverse populations.
  • Must have strong customer service experience; time-management skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; ability to handle projects independently, prioritize tasks appropriately through completion, excellent planning, problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate and resolve any issues or challenges; proficient in MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Adobe Suite; competent in digital art: layout, typography, color theory, etc.

  • Currently enrolled in a federal work-study program.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).
  • Demonstrates experience using Canva to create digital and print marketing materials.
  • Demonstrates strong visual design skills and a keen eye for layout, color, and typography.
  • Basic experience using social media platforms for professional or organizational purposes.
  • Familiarity with camera systems (e.g., DSLR, mirrorless) and their functionality for both photography and videography.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to take creative direction and feedback.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to generate new ideas and approaches to graphic design and/or print and digital media production.
  • Students with a Federal Work Study award

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain a variety of graphic design projects, such as posters/flyers, brochures, handbills, social media graphics, digital signage, and other promotional materials.
  • Assist with creating graphics for Student Life & Leadership’s and Fraternity & Sorority Life's (FSL) social media platforms.
  • Use Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) and Canva to create visually appealing content.
  • Maintain consistency with brand guidelines and visual identity standards of CSUF.
  • Create data visualizations to reflect the impact of student involvement.
  • Work 1-on-1 with other staff members to provide print and/or digital media support.
  • Refer questions and concerns to the proper staff member or department.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Professional or Graduate Assistant staff.
