About The Position

North Lawndale College Prep (NLCP), a high school committed to academic excellence and holistic student development, is seeking a Grant Writer (Contractor, $25–$35/hour; weekly hours vary based on organizational needs) to manage a growing grant portfolio. This role will maintain 30–50 active funder relationships and support the submission of approximately 100 proposals annually, along with required reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field (Master's preferred).
• 2–5 years of grant writing experience with a strong track record of successful proposals.
• Knowledge of fundraising and proposal submission processes.
• Strong research, writing, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and handle confidential information with integrity.
• Proficiency with standard computer applications and database systems.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and comply with all applicable policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Research and identify grant opportunities at the state and national levels, including government and private funders.
• Develop, write, and submit high-quality grant proposals and reports aligned with organizational priorities and funder requirements.
• Manage the full grant lifecycle, including tracking deadlines, maintaining a grant calendar, and ensuring timely submissions.
• Collaborate with the Development Associate and leadership team to gather content, define project scope, and align proposals with organizational goals.
• Maintain accurate records and manage grant-related data within the organization's database.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with funders, including responding to inquiries and providing updates.
• Contribute grant-related content for external communications, including newsletters, blogs, and social media.
