About The Position

The Part-Time Grant Specialist position supports and assists the Grant Director in the development, planning and delivering of advising to eligible participants. The Grant Specialist will serve as a liaison between the program, school districts and other organizations in coordinating recruitment of new students, gathering, entering, and organizing data necessary for program effectiveness and continuity. Starting pay is $19.33 USD Hourly. Anticipated 19 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • A minimum of two to three years of TRIO and/or migrant experience in academic support programs, or similar programs for disadvantaged students.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and meet program objectives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (Bilingual required)
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule of occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Demonstrate professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those facing the project participants.
  • Security sensitive position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and work alongside our team with the implementation of the recruitment strategy within the target schools.
  • Daily data entry in our software to track student participation, engagement, and success tied to our grant objectives.
  • Prepare materials and facilitate participant recruitment campaigns in accordance with TSTC and US Department of Education guidelines.
  • Evaluate participant applications to determine eligibility.
  • Advise and assist current and former students and their parents with submission of program, college, and financial aid applications.
  • Assess the need for tutoring and track academic progress.
  • Assist with program coordination of tutoring; monitor academic progress and class attendance.
  • Create and plan curriculums for student sessions/activities to support learning during enrichment trips, service learning projects and cultural excursions.
  • Lead and facilitate weekly/bi-weekly/monthly workshops/sessions, student leadership retreat, enrichment trips, service learning projects and cultural excursions.
  • Provide a variety of styles of service from in person to virtual options.
  • Make outbound calls and/or visits to prospective students qualifying them on their interest and verify enrollment eligibility.
  • Maintain student files and documentation of eligibility and services.
  • Input, maintain, and track student attendance, academic progress and reporting using program databases.
  • Maintain and compile information needed for the reports required by TSTC Office of Sponsored Programs and the US Department of Education.
  • Coordinate with principals, counselors, teachers and agencies seeking program information.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with school districts and agencies to meet the program objectives.
  • Work closely with school districts and TSTC staff while providing services to support student success and retention.
  • Travel for professional development opportunities at local, state, and national level.
  • Travel for student enrichment trips, leadership retreat and cultural excursions.
  • Other duties as assigned which support the purpose and initiatives of the program as well as the College.
