About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Grant Accountant to support the financial operations of one of our well-established clients in the Sacramento region. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys managing multiple funding streams, and brings strong analytical, reconciliation, and communication skills. The Grant Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate grant-related financial records, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, and supporting program and finance leaders with timely reporting. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful operational improvements while supporting a collaborative, team-centered department. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3–5+ years of accounting experience; nonprofit or grant-funded experience preferred.
Strong Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems (MIP, Intacct, NetSuite, QuickBooks, etc.).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
Demonstrated reliability, efficiency, and commitment to high-quality work.

Responsibilities

Manage grant-related accounting, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
Reconcile grant funding accounts, program budgets, and balance sheet schedules.
Track grant expenditures, prepare drawdowns, and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Prepare grant financial reports and reimbursement packages for federal, state, and private funders.
Review and code invoices with proper GL allocation and grant documentation.
Monitor restricted funds, grant budgets, cost allocations, and supporting schedules.
Assist with annual budgets, forecasts, audits, and grant compliance reviews.
Partner with program and finance teams to provide timely financial insights.
Support process improvements and SOP development within the grants and accounting function.
