About The Position

In coordination with the Graffiti Program Supervisor, the Graffiti Technician locates and removes graffiti throughout Salt Lake County. This role involves responding to requests for graffiti removal, identifying and contacting property owners, obtaining permission for removal, determining the best cleanup methods, and physically removing or covering the graffiti. The technician also maintains logs of graffiti locations, actively searches for new graffiti, transports supplies, and communicates with property owners regarding county ordinances. Additionally, the role includes assisting with public relations, attending training, and submitting written reports.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of experience in a custodial or construction maintenance environment.
  • A valid Driver’s License accepted by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire.
  • A valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah must be obtained within six (6) months of hire to operate a County vehicle.
  • Must pass a required background check through fingerprinting.
  • Must enroll in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program.
  • Ability to perform extensive physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects over 50 pounds (occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance).
  • Ability to perform kneeling, bending, sitting, and standing.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Professional customer service etiquette.
  • Knowledge of hazardous chemicals/solvents used for graffiti removal.
  • Knowledge of effective communication and public relations techniques.
  • Ability to work with computer software related to job-specific duties.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to requests for graffiti removal in coordination with the Graffiti Program Supervisor.
  • Locates and identifies graffiti throughout Salt Lake County.
  • Contacts property owners, informs them of county ordinances, and obtains permission for graffiti removal.
  • Determines appropriate methods for cleaning and removing graffiti.
  • Removes or covers graffiti from public and private properties.
  • Maintains a log of addresses where graffiti has been located and removed.
  • Actively searches for new graffiti for removal.
  • Transports paint and graffiti removal supplies to and from the office to graffiti sites.
  • Delivers letters to property owners regarding graffiti and county ordinances.
  • Takes pictures of graffiti damage if property owners do not comply with removal requests.
  • Refers non-compliant cases to the Law Enforcement Bureau (LEB).
  • Assists the Graffiti Program Supervisor with public relations and educational activities.
  • Attends training courses and meetings as needed.
  • Submits required written reports, including daily work site reports.
