About The Position

This recruitment will be used to fill multiple part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) MIME Graduate Project Assistant positions for the School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering at Oregon State University (OSU). Performs routine to complex technical or specialized tasks in support of research. Most positions will include laboratory research, data collection, and analysis.

Requirements

• Academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
• Meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
• Meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard (High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program; Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term; Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term; Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term; Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term).
• College of Engineering major.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Desire to be involved in hands-on research.
• Must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified.
• Must self-report convictions.
• OSU will conduct a review of the National Sex Offender Public website prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine to complex technical or specialized tasks in support of research.
• Conduct laboratory research, data collection, and analysis.
• Perform book reviews and publication research.
• Conduct experimentation in a laboratory setting.
• Perform laboratory set-up and maintenance.
• Collect and analyze data.
• Perform other related tasks as determined by the hiring unit/supervisor.
• Perform duties specific to the funding and research topic.
• Learn and build vital career-readiness skills in Critical Thinking, Teamwork, Technology, Equity & Inclusion.
