About The Position

Under the supervision of the Accessibility Resources for Students Access Coordinator, the Testing Center Graduate Proctor administers exams taken in the Accessibility Resources Testing Center and ensures exam instructions are followed and testing security is enforced. The Student Employment program provides opportunities for you to work part-time on campus, thereby helping you to meet some of your living expenses. With more than 900 positions ranging from 10 to 15 hours of work per week, as well as daily opportunities for project-based temporary employment, student employment is a great opportunity for professional and educational growth.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Summer employment exception: student can maintain employment without being enrolled if pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Currently enrolled in a Berklee/Boston Conservatory Graduate Degree Program (Students enrolled in an undergraduate degree or diploma program are NOT eligible).
  • Maintain good academic standing.
  • Availability to work hours between 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Excellent customer service and people skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and follow written instructions.
  • Comfortable with basic computer technology (spreadsheets, documents, web browsers, and media players).
  • Maintain cleanliness of Testing Center space.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere with frequent interruptions.
  • Uphold the confidentiality and integrity of all exams.
  • Willingness to deal with difficult situations and follow established procedures.
  • Reliability is essential; proctors must be on time and dependable.

  • Hours during the summer semester may vary based on testing volume.

Responsibilities

  • Administer exams that are taken in the Testing Center or remotely via Zoom.
  • Distribute and collect exam materials.
  • Communicate with faculty.
  • Read and/or scribe an exam for a student.
  • Monitor several students taking exams in a classroom setting.
  • Monitor individual students taking an exam in a private room setting.
  • Complete the necessary paperwork for each exam.
  • Securely store completed exams.
  • Follow all written and verbal directions provided by Accessibility Resources staff.
  • Maintain test security to ensure confidentiality and test integrity.
  • Maintain a professional and pleasant atmosphere to create an environment for optimal test performance for all students.
  • Maintain confidentiality of students receiving accommodations based on their disability or disabilities.
  • Attend mandatory departmental trainings before the semester begins and throughout the semester.
