About The Position
The Graduate Nurse is responsible and accountable for a designated patient population, providing care through the nursing process. The position is on Allegheny General Hospital’s 24-bed 7A Neurovascular Telemetry Unit, which provides specialized care for patients with neurological and neurovascular conditions, including acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, transient ischemic attacks, and general and surgical neurological diagnoses. The unit also manages complex medical comorbidities associated with its patient population. Allegheny General Hospital is a 550+ bed hospital on Pittsburgh’s North Side, recognized for advanced care across medical and surgical specialties. It holds Magnet recognition for nursing excellence and is a Level 1 Trauma Center. The role includes collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, directing patient-care delivery activities, and educating patients and families. Employees must comply with applicable ethical, legal, privacy, and information-security requirements, including HIPAA and company policies.
Requirements
- Current Pennsylvania RN licensure or current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- CPR certification.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate clinical assessment and care-planning skills.
- Provide safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements.
- Professionally direct and manage patient-care delivery activities performed by team members.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and carry out the plan of care from admission through discharge.
- Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.
- Comply with applicable ethical and legal standards, company policies, HIPAA requirements, and data-security guidelines.
