Graduate Nurse 11A Telemetry, Allegheny General
About The Position
The Graduate Nurse is responsible and accountable for a designated patient population, providing care through the nursing process. This position is on Allegheny General Hospital’s 24-bed 11A Cardiac Telemetry Unit, which has single-occupancy rooms and specializes in the care of complex cardiac patients, including those with advanced heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, LVADs, and general cardiology and electrophysiology needs. The unit holds Advanced Heart Failure, LVAD, and transplant accreditations, Pulmonary Hypertension certification, and Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification. The role involves providing safe, effective care for the age groups served, coordinating patient care with the multidisciplinary team from admission through discharge, directing the patient-care delivery activities of team members, and educating patients and families. The position is full-time, with 72 hours every two weeks and rotating weekends and holidays according to policy. It is a union position.
Requirements
- Current Pennsylvania RN license or current multistate licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
- CPR certification.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate clinical assessment and care-planning skills.
- Provide safe and effective care for the age population served in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Professionally direct and manage patient-care delivery activities performed by team members.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team on the plan of care from admission through discharge.
- Assess the learning needs of patients and families and provide education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.
- Comply with applicable ethical and legal standards, company policies, HIPAA privacy requirements, and information-security guidelines.
