About The Position

The Graduate Nurse Rotational Program (GNRP) is designed for nursing students graduating in Winter 2026 or Spring 2027. This program offers a unique opportunity to rotate through various units within UPMC Shadyside's Oncology Division, gaining valuable experience while being mentored by experienced nurses. The program aims to help participants explore different areas of oncology nursing, including hematology/oncology, medical oncology, stem cell transplant, and leukemia treatment units. Participants will be involved in patient care, groundbreaking research, and specialized training, with opportunities for professional growth and development, including pursuing Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Blood and Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN) certifications.

Requirements

  • Graduating from nursing school in Winter 2026 or Spring 2027.
  • Graduate Nurses with an associate's degree/diploma in nursing, BSN, or MSN will be considered.
  • Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse required prior to program start date.
  • GNs must be eligible for State Board Licensure and successfully pass the examination before beginning this role [OR] must have a Temporary Practice Permit and commit to taking the NCLEX examination within (6) months of hire.
  • CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance.
  • Basic Life Support.

  • Completion of UPMC Student Nurse Internship Program or student clinical transitions course at UPMC preferred.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed to provide care and interact with all ages of patients.
  • Understand the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.
