Graduate Engineering Intern - Electronics

Mayo Clinic•Rochester, MN
•Onsite

About The Position

This full-time graduate internship runs during Summer–Fall 2027, from May or June through December, and is based on site in Rochester, Minnesota. The internship provides a graduate student with relevant engineering experience. One or more mentors will provide instruction and guidance and assess performance. The intern will learn the Division of Engineering’s procedures and processes and those of the assigned work unit, while completing selected engineering assignments that support learning and benefit the work unit. The internship supports electrical engineering development for physiological sensing, monitoring, and therapeutic technologies, with opportunities to contribute to low-power, battery-powered, and wirelessly connected medical device prototypes. Working under experienced engineers, the intern will contribute to selected components or subsystems within a broader modular platform. Assignments will be matched to the intern’s preparation, learning objectives, and project needs. Work may involve component design, project strategy, gathering user needs and requirements, evaluating commercial components, assembling prototypes, design verification and validation, troubleshooting, and design reviews. The incumbent must have received a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university and be enrolled in or intending to enroll in a graduate degree program in an Electrical or Biomedical Engineering degree-granting program. Relevant coursework, laboratory work, research, capstone projects, and personal engineering projects may demonstrate preferred qualifications; prior professional experience is not required. Applicants should attach an undergraduate transcript, current transcript, and resume or CV. A cover letter is strongly encouraged.
