About The Position

The UCI Graduate Division provides leadership in all graduate education matters, working with academic units to ensure scholars can learn, teach, and conduct research. The division promotes academic integrity and provides guidance and support to the campus community. Its aim is to enhance the educational experience by engaging in and leading matters related to graduate student life, including academic progress, advocacy, fellowships, funding, diversity, employment, and professional development. The Graduate Division collaborates with other Graduate Divisions across the UC system to maintain high-quality educational experiences and promote graduate education.
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
- Skills in monitoring / assessing people, processes or services, to make improvements.
- Skills in project management, social perceptiveness to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
- Ability in problem identification, reasoning, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, persuade others, and lead.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 7-9 years related experience
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs
- Knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.
Responsibilities
- Manages several centralized student services functions for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.
- Determines the long- and short-term goals and objectives of the graduate student services operations.
- Translates divisional priorities into operational plans and service delivery strategies for student services programs.
- Directs subordinate supervisors and managers.
- Has organization-wide impact for a variety of functions in graduate student recruitment, admissions, enrolled student services, career counseling, professional development, and graduate advising.
- Evaluates effectiveness of student services operations and implements improvements to enhance service quality and student outcomes.
- Supports divisional strategic initiatives by translating goals into actionable student services programs.
